Make Your Own Pure Mineral Makeup is a how-to guide that always assumes the best and most intelligent of its reader, and whose products will leave them looking and feeling gorgeous.
A beautiful book it its own rights, with super-modern gold foil and geode accents, the guide begins with very thorough safety guidelines and chemical breakdowns, all written in a very accessible style. I never thought I was one for chemistry (a bio girl, myself), but the easy writing about compounds, their chemical makeup and how they work in combination with other ingredients was cleanly written and easy to understand.
From here, we go to recipes; every type of makeup is covered first by overall instructions, and then recipes for tints and hues. Anderson's palette is a neutral, earthy one, beautiful and timeless. What makes it up-to-date are the contour, highlight, and color-correcting mixes, buildable eyeliners and lots of shimmer. The guide wraps up with a basic guide to applying makeup, and how to share your new creations with the world, from parties to following FDA guidelines to packaging. A lovely and also informative title, one I would give to anyone interested in making their own mineral makeup--and a new craft I can't wait to try out!
